A Little Update From Black Rose Dreamer

Black Rose Dreamer here.
Figured I'd give you all a little update on what I've been up to lately, and maybe share something I haven't really talked about before.
I have hundreds of songs written that have never seen the light of day.
I'm not exaggerating, either. 😂
For years, writing music was an obsessive hobby of mine. Long before I started actually producing and releasing my music, I was writing songs constantly. Some were fully written, some were left unfinished, and others were ideas I never got around to turning into actual music.
And all these years later, they're still there. Safely tucked away in what I like to call the vault.
Well, I've finally started digging through it.
Some of these older songs are getting completely rewritten and rebuilt from the ground up. Others are finally being brought to life for the very first time.
It's actually pretty interesting going back through things I wrote years ago and seeing where my head was at. Some of it still holds up surprisingly well. Other stuff? Yeah, that needs some serious surgery. 🤣
But there's a LOT in there, and I think it's about time I started cleaning out that old closet.
THE THORNS CAME FIRST. 🥀
My most recent EP, "The Thorns Came First," is actually a connected musical piece, and I wanted to explain that a little.
The EP consists of three songs:
1. NOTHING STAYS
2. THE WORLD REWARDED THE WRONG ONES
3. I LEARNED THE WRONG WAY
Each song can absolutely be enjoyed on its own, but they're also connected to one another narratively.
Together, they serve as a canonically accurate prequel of sorts to my song “The Monster And The Man.”
They explore the experiences, realizations, and gradual changes that came before the man and the monster eventually became one.
One thing I want to make clear, though, is that these experiences didn't create the monster.
The monster was always there.
This EP is about the period when the man slowly started recognizing and embracing the part of himself he'd spent so long trying to keep buried.
So, if you've listened to "The Monster And The Man," you might find these three songs a little more interesting when you listen to them in order.
There's a bigger story buried in my music than I think some people realize. 😉
ABOUT MY SOUND…
I've also been spending a LOT of time working on my production skills.
I'm still learning, experimenting, making mistakes, fixing those mistakes, and finding new ways to improve the music I make.
But I genuinely believe my sound has reached a new level of quality and clarity that I can finally say I'm proud of.
That doesn't mean I'm finished improving. Far from it.
If anything, hearing how far things have come just makes me want to push them even further.
And lately, I've been feeling this strange pull back toward a harder, more aggressive, and honestly more unstable sound.
Not entirely sure where that's coming from, or what I'm going to do with it yet.
Maybe I'll lean into it. Maybe I'll end up doing something completely different.
Knowing me, probably both. 🤷🏾♂️🤣
That's kind of the beauty of being Post-Genre. I don't have to stay in one place.
SO, WHAT'S NEXT?
Well... that's the fun part.
I have absolutely no intention of telling you. 😂
I've never really liked announcing what I'm working on or setting release expectations before I'm ready.
I'd rather let the music speak for itself when the time comes.
All I'll say is that I've been feeling a little more unpredictable lately, and I'm not particularly interested in fighting that feeling.
Whatever comes next, it'll come when I'm satisfied with it.
Until then, keep those ears open. You never really know what you're going to get from me. 🤷🏾♂️🤣
